AREAS OF MINISTRY

CSO Leadership Center

The mission of CSO Leadership Center is to mobilize a new generation of Sports Outreach Leaders who can lead local churches toward building bridges to their communities through the language of sports. Our vision for CSO Leadership Center is to provide Leadership Centers beginning in Charlotte, NC that would equip Sports Outreach Leaders in character, skill, and knowledge through the cooperative efforts of CSO staff, CSO Partner Churches, local seminaries, and CSO Partner Ministries. Our desire is to see these efforts fuel a movement of revitalization among local churches both nationally and internationally that would touch thousands of communities for Christ.

Extension Classes

Extension Classes FAQ

What is an extension class?
Extension simply means you do not need to sit in the classroom in Charlotte, NC to take CSO classes. With extension classes, you gain the benefit and learning experience of various CSO courses from the convenience of your home or office.

How do they work?
You will listen to one DVD class session each week and complete any assignments given in that week. Each week you will then participate in an hour-long conference call with the teacher of the class, along with all other extension students currently taking that same class.

Who is a prospective CSO Extension Course student?

  • Church staff looking for more training and development
  • Church member looking for more training in outreach or sports ministry
  • Church sports leader
Why take an extension class?
Here is what extension student Dan Hammer has to say about his experience taking CSO classes via extension. Dan is the OARS Director at Riva Trace Baptist Church in Davidsonville, Maryland:

"Extension classes have been a great help to me as I work to help get our sports and recreation ministry, OARS, off the ground. It has been a blessing to be able to consistently connect with other people who have been called to the same ministry as I have and to continually pray with them and draw on their experience while sharing mine. I was also blessed to be taught by Bob Schindler, who is a blessed teacher whom has a vibrant passion for doing relational outreach through sports. I have thoroughly enjoyed the two extension classes I have taken thus far through CSO, value the life long friendships that I have formed because of them, and look forward to continuing my relationship with CSO for many years to come."
How much does it cost?
$175 plus the shipping cost for your materials. This price includes: the use of DVDs (if not returned, they cost an extra $75), a binder with class syllabus and notes, a CD with class syllabus and notes. (Note: the weekly conference call may be an added cost if you do not have a free long distance service on your phone. This call lasts 1 hour each week.)

How do I get involved?
